Peter Main, a former graphic Artist from Sydney, Australia is a self taught leather designer, artist and craftsman with over three and a half decades of experience. His design and unique style of delicate carving, embossing and coloring has earned him an International reputation for creating outstanding and highly original works of art. Peter is also a master of construction, case making, hand sewing, fine binding and delicate jewelry and flower making. Retiring after twenty five years, from his successful Graphic Design Studio in 1995, Peter has since been exhibiting, writing and publishing, apart from creating many more works of art. He has also traveled extensively teaching his craft throughout Australia, USA, Japan, England. Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Norway. His first instructional book 'Australian Leather Carving' was released in 1997. and four more publications have since followed. Peter created the 'Stohlman Display' in Sheridan, Wyom ing in 2000, featuring the workshop of Al and Ann Stohlman, the worlds most famous leather workers. Ann Stohlman personally presented Peter with the Al Stohlman Award In 1999. 1968 was the year that Peter started teaching the art of working with leather. Hundreds of workshops have since followed throughout the world. 1983 - 2007 Peter has conducted workshops at the eight Australian Leather Conferences. 1980 - 2000 Sydney Royal Show, an impressive 47 first place awards and 18 standard of excellence awards. 2 000 - 2006 World Leather Debut, outstanding success with nine first place awards and best of show. Today Peter resides in Houston, Texas.
